Bourke parrot attack

by Mark
(Armidale)

Hi I had 4 bourke parrot in a avairy together and recently found one of them in a pretty poor state, I would have to say she had been attacked by one or all the others?

I have removed her from the cage and she has quite a lot of feather's missing and cuts on her. All these are healing quite well.

She is now in a single cage just recovering.

What I am concerned about is her eyes, they seem to have scabbed up/over, when initially they were a bit roughed up,but they were open, now they seem to be hardly open at all.

Is there anything I should do to help? Or should I just let the healing run it's course?

Thanks for your help.

It is possible that this bird was sick or diseased, and the other birds attacked it because of this. In the wild this is what these birds do to keep the sick birds out of their flock.

I suggest you take the sick bird to an avian vet. If you do not have an avian vet, you can look for one on our Find an Avian Vet page.
