Breeding African Lovebirds

I breed African Lovebirds. I have two small questions to be clarified by you. They are:

Should I keep a small tub filled with fresh water for my birds to bathe in? ( They are used to feeder bottles placed in a side of the cage.)

How often do u recommend me to give my birds a source of vitamins? ( I buy bird vitamins that is available at pharmacies and pet shops which are yellow and pale white in color.)

Hope you will help me overcome my questions. Thank you.

Your birds need to be eating a healthy organic pelleted diet like Harrison's which is the best. There are several others here too that are good. You do not need to feed any vitamins when feeding a high quality pelleted diet because everything the bird needs is in the pellets.

The vitamins found in pet shops or other places are not tolerated very well by parrots meaning that you are throwing your money away and may also be overdosing them with certain vitamins.

Below is a link on how to go about changing birds from seeds to organic pellets, and it does take time. I think it would be a good idea to scrap the breeding idea until your birds are in better health from eating a healthy diet. They both also need to be examined for infections by an Avian Vet before any breeding is done. Birds with infections have babies with infections, and the babies don't last long with infections of any kind.
