breeding birds

I'm not sure why that is the only question you have about breeding since it is a very complicated and expensive undertaking. I will say this though. You need to find out this information as well as the world of information about breeding birds. What kinds of cages, correct size nest boxes, how to go about preparing a pair of birds for breeding which includes a trip to Avian Vet and feeding them high quality diet of organic pellets for at least 6 months to a year before attempting to breed. There is also learning how to handfeed baby parrot handfeeding formula using a syringe. That may sound easy and is not easy as it is a learned skill. If you either prepare the formula wrong or feed the baby wrong you can koll your chicks.

So, to answer your original question, breedig is done in the Spring and only if birds have been examined by an Avian Vet and have been eating high quality diet for up to a year. Breed birds only one time a year as more breeding begins to break the hen's body down leading to sickness and death. I know a lot of folks breed as much as the birds will allow, and the birds don't know what is good or not for them, so once a year is called responsible breeding. More than that is irresponsible, and the birds pay the ultimate price with their health. Happy Learning and good luck,

Thanks for writing,
Linda
