Bringing my Jendays back to the USA. Is it legal?
by: Linda

All animals and birds coming into the US from foreign land has to be quarantined for 30-45 days or at least that's the way it used to be.

Contact the people Tracie told you about, and they will put you in touch with whoever it is you need to talk with. For one thing, your bird will need a NOW kind of health certificate clearing him of any and all communicable disease or infections. This means any kind of infection or disease that could be passed onto domestic stock here in the US like chickens, turkeys or breeder raised parrots and other exotic birds. Newcastle's and Psittacosis are two deadly diseases to domestic livestock including people. Those are both of the bacterial variety, and there are also some viral infections that can be just as devastating to domestic bird populations including bird flu. Make sure you have your bird checked out and tested according to what you find is the law coming from PR to the US.

Good luck and let us know what you find out,

Linda
