Bubbly saliva coming out of mouth.

My African Grey recently was making a weird sound that I never heard before. When I went to check, he had bubbles or foam coming out of his beak. Kind of a transparent liquid coming out as well, what may this be? And what might be causing this?

Bird with bubbles coming out of mouth

It could have ingested something toxic or have an infection or disease. Please Find an Avian Vet to examine your bird right away.

Please look at our Toxic / Non-toxic for birds list for more information on potentially toxic items.

If your bird eats colored, or other sugary pellets, then it may have a bacterial infection. Hopefully your bird is eating Harrison's or Roudybush pellets for 80% of it's diet and you are not feeding it table food that is salted and full of chemicals and toxins.

When you visit your avian vet, take with you a list of what you feed your bird and what potential toxic items in your home your bird has had access to.
