Injured Budgie

Kitchens are dangerous places for budgies (ovens, sinks etc...) and also I would never allow my budgies in the kitchen for hygiene reasons.

Your budgie needs to be taken to an avian vet ASAP as birds have hollow bones which break very easily. He will need x-rays and pain medication.

DO NOT delay as he is in pain.

Budgies should not be allowed in to bathrooms unsupervised in case of toilet lids up or sink or bath filled with water.

ALWAYS supervise your birds out of the cage time in future as accidents do happen.

Let us know how he gets on.

You must take your bird to an Avian Vet immediately. If bone is broken and not set right away, it will have to be rebroken so it can be set properly. Find an Avian Vet ONLY in your driving area, call and let them know you have an emergency with a possible broken leg.

Do not wait, because he is in a lot of pain which will get worse. Birds die sometimes from having to deal with too much pain. Get him to an Avian Vet for xray of leg so it can be set and cast if it's broken. Also have them clip his wings so he can no longer hurt himself flying all over. Have them clip only the Primary Feathers which are the long ones at the ends of each wing. They can clip 4-6 feathers. Do not allow them to cut higher up or he will experience a different and chronic kind of pain.
