Budgie with inflamed eye

My elderly budgie (10 years) has a 1/2" diameter area around his right eye with no feathers. The upper area around the eye looks bluish. The rest of the skin looks red and inflamed. The bird's behaviour appears unchanged. There are no other symptoms.

The other eye is normal. The bird is eating and drinking normally. This condition has been developing over a number of weeks. I thought that the feathers might just grow back but they haven't. Any suggestions as to diagnosis and possible treatment? Please see photos.

Bird with red, swollen bald area around eye

It appears that your bird has a sinus infection or an eye infection or both. This can be caused by many things. I recommend that you have your bird examined by an avian veterinarian.
