Did you ever find out what this is? I have the same exact problem on my cockatiel. Just noticed it today. Let me know if you found out what this is. Thanks.

I have the same problem on a baby rainbow lorikeet we've just inherited. These are definitely not mites, they can be easily seen by the naked eye and squashed without any problem, the look to be almost ant or termite like with a small round head, and a slightly elongated abdomen, around 2-3 millimetres in length. The bird doesn't appear to be overly bothered by the, is not scratching or losing feathers and I haven't been bitten by anything that I am aware of. Anyone have any ideas?

You will need to Find an Avian Vet for your bird so it can be examined to determine what is wrong and what the potential treatment might be

Bugs on bird

Please Find an Avian Vet for your bird. There are not any over the counter treatments that are safe for birds that can be suggested.

You will need to treat your home and clean the cage before bringing the bird back home to prevent this happening all over again.
