Bump on the side of my Yellow Sided Conures eye

by Miranda

I have noticed in the last few days that my year and half old female Yellow Sided Conure has developed a bump on the side of her eye on the white part.
I currently live in a smaller town that does not have an Avian vet.
Could this be serious or perhaps a allergy to something?

Bird with bump on side of eye

Of course there is no way of knowing without an avian vet exam, but it is possible this is an allergy, or a nutritional problem.

Your bird should be eating about 70-80% high quality pellets ( Harrison's or Roudybush) and the rest should be healthy treats. Table food is not healthy if it is seasoned or full of chemicals. When you see how few pellets you feed, you can see how few seeds and treats your bird should have.

Please use this Find an Avian Vet link to find an avian vet that may be within driving distance to look at your bird.

Here are some Canadian sites that sell parrot products. (Please people from other countries, I do NOT know where you can buy parrot supplies in your country too, so don't start writing. Just do an Internet search.)

* http://www.wctropicalbird.com/ They are from Vancouver and carry Harrison's

* One for toys: http://www.thingsforwings.ca/

* Toys only: These guys are from Quebec and have a french link as well: http://zoomtheparrot.com/catalog/index.php?language=en

* This one http://www.canadianbirdtoys.com/ I would certainly recommend for toys, lighting and non-toxic cleaner.

* Chirp N Dale's Pet Supply Riverview, New Brunswick www.chirpndalespetsupply.com

* www.parrotdiseperch.com Calgary, AB T2E 8L2 888-243-2194 & Mississuauga, ON L4W 1E4 888-624-1220
