by Michelle Maune
(Green Bay, WI)

Here are the 4 choices of birds I have right now

Rainbow Lory (green naped)

Eclectus - female

Sun Conure

male meyers parrot (this little guy lost his female mate and has been very depressed...so i was hoping to adopt him and another bird for him for companionship....hopefully one of the above will work out)

Thanks so much

can different breeds of parrots inhabit together?
by: Marcia

Michelle

Anything is possible.I myself have several different breeds of parrots that inhabit together.
I have a Jenday Conure and Hahn's Macaw that are together but they came to that way. There is also a
Cherry Head Conure(rescue)and a Quaker that are living together but this was something they chose to do.I have several Eclectus and Greys who interact during the day along with a Yellow Nape Amazon.I all situations it is different. If you should try to mingle your different species you should do it under strict supervision too many things can happen.Even with same species there can be many problems.I wish you well.

Different breeds sharing a cage
by: Tracie

Dr. B., our avian vet, does not suggest housing birds from different continents together I know that for sure.

The other thing to consider is that even two birds of the same species may not even get along in the same cage. You need to plan on having separate cages for your birds unless they already share a cage before you get them.

You can slowly introduce them to each other and see how they get along. They may be able to get along together outside their own cages, but still not be able to share a cage. One or both birds may get injured if you are not careful.
