Change in behaviour

Hi. I have 2 green cheek conures. Usually they will hope on to my finger and play but recently one of it has been avoiding me. It jumped into its food bowl and started pushing all the food out. Something it has never done before. It also started eating really a lot. Could it be nesting or is it a medical issue? I am not sure about their gender but both birds were bought at different times while they were at different age. The bird that has changed is the older one while the younger one is nearly a year old.

Update.
by: Anonymous

I have like an update on this. Since the bird like to sit on her food bowl and push it all out, I decided to get a box and attached it to the cage. It took them about 2 weeks before they started exploring the box and now they actually have started going into the box and pushing out beddings that I have given them. We are not sure if they are still breeding but I have seen one of the birds on the bottom of the cage with the other bird on top. Not sure if they are mating. We are kind of prepared if they going to breed but we just don't know if the signs are right.

Possibly breeding age

Everything is probably fine, but if you have concerns you should use this Find an Avian Vet link to find an avian vet for your bird so it can be examined to determine what if anything s wrong and what the potential treatment might be.

You should have the avian vet do a DNA test. You don't want the birds breeding, if you are not a breeder and don't have experience with babies. Also, if your birds are not eating a high quality pellet diet, the bird laying eggs could become egg bound.
