Chica - Alexandrine question

by Liz

Good day, I have a female Alexandrine, she is 6 years old. Since they originate from India where it is warm I am worried that she gets extremely cold in winter and is suffering. Do they get very cold and what can I do to make it more comfortable for her?

Thank you Liz

Because my parrot cages are by windows I use the heated perches as well as a infared heat panel's. The heat panel also comes in handy if they get sick. I bought it from avi-tech on the internet.
My birds love them and so do I because I don't have to keep my house so warm.

I know how you feel. I have 2 quakers who come from South Amer. and I live in the northeast with snow and sleet and cold. I have just turned my heat up on the days it felt chilly. Birds can take some moderate temps, but not drafts. Mine have weathered the winter just fine. I feel there feet. If the feet are warm, we're good. If they are cold, I turn up the heat. They also have heated perches you can buy and I hear these work very good to keep them warm and toasty and at a good temp.
Good luck :-)
