my cockatoo has plucked around the butt area and it is bleeding-we have chillies in the garden -could this be the cause if he ate some.

You need to get your bird to an avian vet. The plucking is not something you should ignore.

The fact that the bird has made itself bleed means that he has damaged the skin.

Please get the bird there soon, before the bird causes more damage.

I don't think the peppers have anything to do with the plucking. Please use this Find an Avian Vet link to find an avian vet for your bird so it can be examined to determine what is wrong and what the potential treatment might be.

Your bird could have a bacterial or viral infection, a disease or something else. You need to determine what is wrong in order to know the proper treatment.
