If this is a case of egg-binding it is an EMERGENCY and the bird can die without treatment within hours.

Birds with egg-biding cannot also defecate properly and block up the colon.

Egg laying cockatiel balance problem
by: Tracie

Your bird needs to be seen by an avian vet right away. It could be the beginning of egg binding, which could be prevented in the future by feeding 80% high quality pellets.

Your bird could also have a tumor or any number of things. Do NOT give vitamins, because you may cause organ failure in your bird. I killed my first bird by following the advice to give my bird vitamins instead of taking the bird to an avian vet. It died of organ failure within 24 hours. :-(

Most avian vets will take payments. Please use this Find an Avian Vet link to find an avian vet for your bird so it can be examined to determine what is wrong and what the potential treatment might be.

Also, if you need help converting your birds to pellets, please read this Switching Birds To Pellets article that was written by our avian vet.
