cockatiel depression

Hello, I just changed my birds cage to a bigger one. Including my cockatiel- Cloud. And my Budgie- Asher. My cockatiel has not been as vocal as usual and not very friendly. He's 18 years old. I've had him for three years. I was wondering if the change of cage could be bringing on this type of behaviour. Or if he's just in a bad mood. He's been living in his old cage for the 18 years of his life. Thanks!

old cage vs. new cage

Why don't you put him back into his old cage and see how he response? Sometimes a smaller we are used to is better than a bigger house we are not used to.

Cockatiel depression?
by: Tracie

It is hard to say, and Dr B will not be able to tell without examining your bird if it is sick. It is possible that the bird is nervous in it's new environment, some birds do not like change.

The only way to tell for sure if your bird is sick or just scared is for you to Find an Avian Vet to examine the bird.
