Cockatiel feathers

by Kayla Williams
(Australia)

My little Babli( he is a cokatiel) has started to form little grey spots on the yellow part of his face. I don't know what to do. They have jsut come up. I don't know if they are just the colour of his feathers or if he is sick. What shall i do?

Cockatiel feathers

your baby looks like a grey and the grey stops might be what we call pearls, hence your baby might be a grey pearl, if your baby is into its first molt being a year or so, it is getting its true colour, if the spots are just feather markings that sounds ok, but if they are raised and on the skin, i would take him to the vet, for a check up, but it sounds like his first molt and true colour comming,
if he was sick, you will notice him off his food, and when you handle him, if you feel down his brest, and you can feel his brest bone, sticking out and he feels lighter, then i would have him checked by an avian vet, but i think it is just his true colour, hope this helps, i always say, if you feel something is not right, and you know your babies mannerism then have him checked out, better safe the sorry, i always say,
