Prostheses for birds
by: The Avian Vet

Prostheses on birds are not perfected and none have been successful. If you would like to try one, you can locate an avian specialist in your area that may be interested. I attempted this on my own African grey with almost no success. She was happier with her nubs than the prosthetic. Your bird will adjust. They are very resilient.

Cockatiel prosthetic foot?

You will need to start with your Avian Vet and make sure they are licensed and trained Avian Vets. I assume you took him to an Avian Vet for the amputation, and they will be able to put you in touch with someone who does this kind of thing. Word of warning, this will be a very expensive procedure, and the rehabilitation time will be lengthy with your bird needing a lot of your time, and not just morning and evenings either. He'll either need you or another caregiver with him all the time at first until he gets used to his new foot. There may also be setbacks in the form of infections, so your bird is going to need a 24-7 caregiver until this ordeal is over.

So, call your Avian Vet and get them to recommend your next step, make an appointment with new people and go from there. They will probably also be able to work out a payment plan for all this that you can actually adhere to, so don't hesitate to ask.

May God Bless You for wanting to help your bird, and please keep us in the loop as this story unfolds so we can all read and learn about all this.

Linda
