Cockatiel sleeping!

by Gemma
(st albans)

When i turn the light off at night and when it is dark my cockatiel will just sit there and stare into space, and when you go near her cage she will stretch her haed foward and hiss.
but when you turn the light on for a while she will go back to normal.
Why does she do this?
Also i have never seen her go to sleep?

Cockatiel not sleeping?
by: Tracie

Hello Gemma,

I am sure your Cockatiel is sleeping, it just is sensitive to your presence and doesn't sleep when you are awake.

Some birds need a night light in the room with them at night. Your bird probably does not like you coming to the cage in the dark because it can not see you. You might try putting a night light in the room for your bird's comfort.
