Cockatoo losing feathers

I have a Goffin Cockatoo, he's about 2 years old. Seems to be losing a lot of feathers on his chest, but plenty of new ones coming in. Is this normal? I don't see him plucking himself. Just the normal grooming.

He's my first bird in really long time.

I've had him for about six months. (think he's a boy)

Cockatoo losing his feathers
by: Tracie

If more are coming in and you don't see him plucking, then he could be molting. If he looks a bit bare, an avian vet visit might be in order.

Some people use the Avix products we sell on this site, but if you can find George's distilled Aloe at a health food store you can put that in his water and dilute it and spray him too.
