GOODAY AUSTRALIA! Very good to hear from you, and you do need to take your bird into an Avian Vet in your area. She could have parasites or an infection that is causing the feather loss around her face.

So, just make an appointment and take her on in and have a good sitdown with your vet as they will do some tests to see what is going on with your bird.

It is very good to take birds into vet at least once a year to make sure all is well with them. Birds hide their illnesses until they get so bad the can no longer hide them, so a checkup once a year is a very good idea. It becomes even more important as birds age.

Let us know how everything goes after your vet visit and thanks for writing!

Cockatoo loosing feathers
by: Tracie

I am sorry to hear about your bird. Dr. B really can not help your bird because he can not examine the bird and run the necessary tests.

Dr. B asks that you take your bird to an avian vet, not only now but every year. Your vet will be able to talk with you and get the background information, examine the bird and run any tests he/she feels necessary so that your bird can get better.

The age of the bird has nothing to do with the feather loss, by the way. If the bird is loosing feathers in places that it can not pluck them, then there is likely a health issue causing it.
