conure biting family

Tracie covered everything perfectly, and I just wanted to say, "Welcome to the Parrot World" where they decide who they like and who they do not. They can be taught to tolerate and even come to love and trust others and its takes work and commitment on everyone's part.

Have other members of the family take turns cleaning and feeding the bird as this sometimes paves the way to a decent relationship with said bird. Birds appreciate their food, water and being cleaned up, so try that in addition to information you'll find in Tracie's suggested articles.

Thanks for writing and keep in touch as to how this goes. Your information can and will help many others in similar situations with their parrots.

We had conures that decided they only liked my husband, even though my daughter and I were the ones home caring and playing with them all day while he was at work. I wrote about this in the "Biting GC conure" article on our Parrot Training page. That and other articles will be helpful for you to read to help your bird to stop biting.

Our birds never "loved" me like they did the first few months we had them, but they at least quit biting me. Birds simply decide who they are going to like and we have to help them learn to tolerate the ones they do not prefer to have around.
