Conure Nibbling on Legs! Help!!!

My baby green-cheek conure has been nibbling/biting her legs. She'll lift up a leg and nibble on the end for hours. Whether she's on her perch outside or in her cage...What do I do? Is this normal? Should I go see a vet? She is baby conure, she was weaned about a few weeks ago from the Omar's exotic birds....

Bird nibbling legs

This is not normal. Your bird may have an infection or something else. Since Dr B can not tell without examining your bird, please Find an Avian Vet to examine your bird.

Be prepared to tell the avian vet what you feed your bird and what products you use in your home. If you feed colored pellets and table food, then your bird could be having an allergic reaction. Your bird should be eating 80% high quality pellets like Harrison's or Roudybush and only 20% treats.

Avoid giving your conure food with salt, sugar and chemicals. Avoid anything greasy or high fat also.

If your bird bathes and drinks in the same bowl, then it may have a bacterial infection. Unless you change out the water every 3 hours, the water will be full of harmful bacteria. Dr B suggests that birds use a water bottle for drinking and that you only provide a shallow water dish for bathing 3 hours a day.
