1. When can I get my conures from the breeder?

Do not get them until they have been weaned and eating on their own for a week. If you get the bird too soon, you risk it reverting back to needing to be hand fed from the stress of moving to your home.

2. How long do they have to be handfed?

The bird determines how long it has to be hand fed. Your breeder should be able to answer these questions. If your breeder isn't willing to discuss things with you, then find another breeder.

3. What formula or food is the best?

Roudybush has a good hand feeding formula, but your breeder will use whatever they usually use.

In case you might be considering getting the bird before it is weaned, here is an article written by our avian vet. To Wean or Not To Wean article
