conure with growth on tongue

i work in a pet store and we have a jenday conure. today i noticed he was not acting himself(i.e. biting very hard, and being super noisy while handling), he kept trying to 'feed' me by kissing me and doing the head jerking thing. i thought he was actually trying to spit food into my mouth so i looked inside his mouth and noticed a growth on the base of his tongue. it is pushing his tongue to the side and seems to be causing him pain.
