Conure with wetness/sticky on head,

by Michael
(Fort Worth, Texas)

My pineapple conure keeps having a sticky wetness on the left side of her head, between her ear and eye. What could this be?

Conure with possible eye infection
by: The Avian Vet

It could be a discharge for her eye or her ear. Check the top of her wing on the same side to see if it is also wet, if so, it may be the eye; birds will rub their eye with their wing if it is irritated. You need to take your bird in to see an avian veterinarian.

Conure with wetness/sticky on head,
by: Linda

This could be an abcess that is draining and which you cannot see under the feathers. It could also be an eye infection.

Either way, your bird needs to be examined by an Avian Vet in your driving area and only an avian vet can diagnose and treat birds successfully.

Since this is an ongoing problem, it points directly to an infection, so please do not wait any longer to have bird seen by an avian vet.

Thanks for writing,
Linda

Conure with sticky spot on head
by: Tracie

It could be an infection, but without a physical examination by an avian vet, I don't know that anyone can tell you. Dr B will eventually answer this, so I guess we can see what he says.
