i have a 3 yr old goffin cockatoo...how old is he in human yrs..tks

Editor's note: The bird will be like a 2yr old human no matter how old the bird gets. The average life span for a goffin is 40 years. In the future if you want people to see and answer, you need to post a question, not an answer here to another question, on our Parrot Questions page.

Exactly what the other person said. If your Amazon is 30, then he is 30. Amazons can live up to 75 years of age which is compatible with humans. Most don't live that long because of poor diet and other factors that captivity brings into play.

The large Macaws and Cockatoos can live to 100 years of age, while the smaller Cockatiel's normal long lifespan is around 30 years old. Your smaller birds have shorter lifespans is how it works with birds. The exact opposite of dogs, so a little confusing.

I have two Amazons in their 30's, and they are still young acting, healthy birds. Of course, they eat an organic pelleted diet and NO human or table food, so they will have a longer life than a seedeater. Birds who eat only seeds and a few veggies and fruit succumb to fatty liver disease and/or kidney failure if fed any human foods containing salt which most everything we eat does. My motto is to feed a bird food for birds, and feed dogs and cats food made for them. It makes life simpler for us and more healthy for them. Seeds are just carbs and fat with very little protein and hardly any vitamins. Giving vitamin supplements is not the answer either as the man-made formulas are usually not digested and used well by the parrots. A good wholesome food source is the only answer to getting all the nutrition they need into them.

Thanks for writing,
Linda

I don't believe there is a conversion from human to parrot years.

If your amazon is 30 human years old, then that is the age.
