Scared Bird

Your bird may be crying or screaching when you get to close. This is the bird "Help me!" or "Leave me alone" call. I suggest that you create a bridge of trust between your bird and you or give him a treat. You can also talk to it in a soft reasurring tone. It work with my lovebirds.

You didn't say how old this bird is or what kind it is.

If this bird is a baby, it may be crying to be fed, or may have been weaned too early.

Also, all according to species, it may be something it did in a previous home to get attention or it could also be sick.
