This is Julie’s Cuban Amazon Parrot.
Her Cuban Amazon Parrot is a rare find in the U.S.
Terry is a female Amazon with a very mellow temperament. She loves good neck rubs when she is in the mood for them, otherwise she'd rather just hang out and not be touched.
Terry has a quiet voice for an Amazon, and does not make noise too often. Cuban Amazons are one of the smallest of the Amazons being about the same size as the White Fronted. She loves her rubber toys the best!
These parrots are not easily found in the United States. Julie sent this interesting information along with her story. She says that she got this off her breeder's website.
As the name indicates, the Cuban Amazon parrot is found only on the island of Cuba. The remaining numbers of this beautiful Amazon parrot in the wild are so low that it is listed with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (C.I.T.E.S.), as an Appendix I species. Appendix I species are those that are threatened with extinction. They are also listed as an endangered species on the United States Fish & Wildlife Service’s (USFWS) Endangered Species List. Due to their endangered status, a USFWS Captive Wildlife Permit is required for any international or interstate movement of these birds.
