Cut eyelid on bird?

My amazon has a cut on her bottom eyelid, and a small whole on her upper eye lid. Is there any way I can treat it? Or should I just take her to a vet?

Bird with cut lid

You need to take her to an avian veterinarian. The eye needs to be stained to be sure there is no damage to the cornea and the lids may need to be sutured.

Cut eyelid on bird?

She needs to be taken to an Avian Vet immediately. This can and will become infected, and she could lose her eye. Make sure you take her only to an Avian Vet as they are the only vets licensed and trained to diagnose and treat birds.

Use no over the counter meds including those recommended by any pet store personnel because they are not avian vets or any kind of vets for that matter. Your bird needs to be treated by an Avian Vet before this becomes infected.

Thanks for writing,
Linda
