That depends on if the species you have can be visually sexed or not. If the bird cannot be visually sexed then DNA or surgical sexing needs to be done.

It depends upon what type of bird you have. If it is a cockatoo. Then one can tell by the eyes.
If it is any other bird you have to have to have it dna'd.

What kind of bird do you have? Some birds you can tell by looking at them and some birds have to have a DNA test for you to know.
