Do I really need a vet?

by Tammy

My bird is quiet and he isn't eating as much food. Could this just be because it is hot now and not cold like it used to be? Do they eat less food when it is warm?

Do you need to take your bird to an avian vet?
by: Tracie

Our birds do eat less when it is warmer outside. In the winter they need more food because they burn more calories trying to keep warm. ( I assume it would be called calories, but you know what I mean.)

As long as your birds are eating, playing, chirping, drinking etc. normally then things are likely fine.

If your birds show any signs that they are sick, then please get them to an avian vet quickly. They will hide an illness until they are very sick most of the time.

Please read our article on Parrot Health that is on our Parrot Training page.
