Drinking Water

by Margaret

he helps me work, NOT!!

he helps me work, NOT!!

I have a 10 month old Meyers parrot. I used to see him drink when we first got him, especially in the morning when he ate his breakfast. Now I almost never see him at the water bowl. I keep all the dishes clean and changed every day. I did start to feed him fresh foods off and on all day, mostly fruit and vegetables. I give him seeds and nuts for a treat in the afternoon. He doesn't seem to drink then either. I have heard so much about how important water is for these creatures. I am concerned that he is not taking in enough just from fresh foods.

bird drinking enough water
by: Tracie

If your bird knows where the water is, and it does, then it is drinking enough water, I suspect.

Make sure you are feeding your bird at least 80% healthy pellets, like Harrison's and only 20% treats. When you see how little pellets they eat, you see you can NOT give your bird lots of other food.

Thanks for writing, and you have a beautiful bird.
