Cockatoos usually mature at around 5-7 years old depending on size. If you are seeing any straining, a lump in vent area or any blood, your bird is in serious need of an Avian Vet. Birds die all the time from what is called egg binding, and if egg cannot pass, it can break inside them and kill them quickly. Take no chances and get her to an Avian Vet ONLY. Find an Avian Vet

Have her checked out by an Avian Vet to make sure she is healthy and does not have any physical issues. Feeding a healthy diet of 80-85% organic pellets makes all the difference in whether birds have trouble laying eggs or not. All seed diets are very unhealthy and are actually slow starvation diets. Below is a link about how to go about change from seeds to organic pellets written by an Avian Vet. Bird has to be examined by an Avian Vet before any dietary changes to make sure she is healthy enough for the stress of changing to a new diet.
