If you see ANY signs of aggression either toward the hen or the eggs and later babies, then remove him immediately. Most cocks do okay in cage for the duration and occasionally one will become aggressive either toward the hen or will try and break eggs and later kill the babies. Keep a close eye on him to make sure he's not going to do any of this.

The males normally do not feed the babies or sit on the eggs, so you can remove him to another cage at any time you wish. If he continues to do his job of protecting his family, he can stay, but if you see anything aggressive toward hen, eggs, or chicks, then have a cage ready to move him into.

Good Luck and thanks for writing,
Linda
