dusky conure's eyes, etc.

My dusky conure was born July 24, 2011 and has recently developed a pinkish tint around the fleshy part of his eyes, nose and the fleshy hinge of his beak. Is this normal? Thank you. -KD

Thanx for your comment! I compared the coloring to several birds online and I come to find out that they all have the same pinkish tint around the eyes ring, nostrils and fleshy part of the beak. What I meant was the eye ring and not the eye itself. My bird is completely protected from the sun and I have no full spectrum light on him. I will be taking him in for a checkup soon. Thanx again. -KD

No, not normal. Do you have a full spectrum light on him or has he been in the sun. This is usually how a “sun burn” presents. But it could also be conjunctivitis. I recommend that you have your bird examined by an avian veterinarian.
