eclctus got his claw stuck

My male 9 month old Eclectus got his foot stuck in his cage and pulled off one of the outer shells of his claw. This was about a week ago and he is still holding up his foot. Not sure what else I can do for him.

The swelling has gone down after applying pressure and applying triple antibiotic. But today it started bleeding a little bit and his foot is warm.

Injured bird

Your bird should have been taken straight to an avian vet. Your bird is in pain and could have done some serious damage.

Please get the bird to a vet so that they can do x-rays and treat the leg and give pain relief.

The fact that the bird is now bleeding is a worry.

Below is an exert of text I have written on questions involving bleeding.

This is an EMERGENCY!

Any bleeding is serious.

Birds have a small amount of blood (a few mls).

Any time you notice bleeding, you need to get your bird to an avian vet immediately.

Please take the bird to an avian vet immediately.

It would be advisable to either buy a bird first aid kit or Google bird first aid kit and buy the supplies listed.

Thanks for getting in contact.
