Eclectus Feathers and Coat

by Blake
(Sunshine Coast, QLD, Australia)

Hi, Just had a quick question. my female Eclectus Parrot has a pretty dull coat, and a few feathers missing (we only recently got her-and she is not plucking at this point in time though can tell she previously had). It also looks like we can actually see bare skin on the bony points on the back of her wings!
Is there a certain food or vitamin that I can give her to help her Coat become full and healthy and shiny again?

Cheers

Dr Ross Perry is no longer there. Please search for updated info. There is plenty there for Queenslanders! There will also be avian vets locally that will stock these products.

And dull feathers can also be the result of not frequently bathing the bird. Showers, baths, mists will help to give the feathers a good shine. If this doesn't help then there is possibly something else wrong.

Please GOOGLE eclectus parrots for other info & go see an avian vet for a wellness check & ask for advice:

Yes, please read our Avian Vet's suggestion to feed Harrison's pellets to eclectus parrots.

Argument for pellets

Here he suggests the best diet for eclectus:
