eclectus parrot chewing on leg

by JESSE
(Burlington, MI)

My eclectus parrot has recently been chewing at the top of her leg(where the feathers meet the leg)causing her to bleed large puddles of blood. She does this at least three to four times a week in the same location. I recently bought some lice spray thinking this maybe the problem but have seen no results. Can you please help?

Please have your eclectus checked for both GOUT and for metal toxins, such as zinc or lead.

Parrot chewing leg and bleeding

You must Find an Avian Vet right away for your bird to find out why the bird is doing this. Do NOT spray anything else on your bird. Dr B has addressed this many times with other people. Some of these things cause the birds to get worse.
