Fancy Budgie has a swollen abdomen to bottom

My bird has a "blackish" swollen abdomen to butt & it can't seem to produce feces properly. & when it does produce feces it tends to all be connected. I think it is an infection or something wrong with its digestive system. So is there any way to cure it without going to the vet? My parents do not want to bring it there. Thanks

Budige very sick

I am sorry to say, no there is not anything you can do at home for the bird. It is very sick and needs medical attention.

You can help the bird be more comfortable by covering the cage on 3 sides and the top with a cover and try to keep the bird in a warm room. Also, put the perches as low as you can in the cage and a towel on the bottom in case the bird loses it's balance. Of course, you will need to put the food and water at the bottom too.

Again, I am sorry, but it is hard for many people to see the necessity of spending more than the bird cost in vet bills when they get sick. Don't hold it against your parents, okay?
