I bought a simple(Indian) green parrot. He is one and a half years old. In the beginning I clip his feathers but it never grows again worst is that it loses his chest feathers also.he is unhealthy too.looks like a baby parrot without feathers.
Although um giving him fruits, nuts and sunflower seeds.I visit a vet too he recommended cord fish oil and vitamin E capsules but i didn't see any improvement.

Bird unhealthy
by: The Avian Vet

For nutrition, you need to be feeding a pellet diet. Do not add the fish oil and vitamin E to the diet. It is easy to over dose these. The chest is bare because he is plucking, which is a very complicated problem. It could be behavioral, stress, nutritional problems, poor lighting, boredom and many many other causes.

Feather Fall And Unhealty parrot.

Your bird is unhealthy because he is eating a very unhealthy diet. Seeds and nuts are nothing more than fat. Birds have to eat a high quality organic pelleted diet to be healthy. There are some organic pellets on this site if you can get them to your country.

Your bird is also plucking his feathers out which is another sign of poor diet and an unhealthy bird.

Make sure you are taking your bird to an Avian Vet because regular vets do not know what to do with birds and are not licensed to do anymore than make matters worse. Do not feed this fish oil because it is simply more fat and nasty as well.

Bird has to be eating a high quality pelleted diet that provides all the proteins, vitamins and minerals he needs for healthy skin and feathers. If you can get the bird food into your country, Harrison's is the best and get the size grind for your size bird. It takes time to get birds off bad diets and onto healthy ones and here is an article on how to go about it written by an Avian Vet:

Switching Birds To Pellets article

Remember, you're going to need an Avian Vet for your bird. Do not give anymore of the fish oil because it is more fat plus the fish all over the world are basically nasty with oil, mercury and now radiation. Fish has become unhealthy to eat or to use by products from. Your bird needs a healthy diet made for birds, and you'll see him get better. This will not happen quickly as it has taken him all this time to get worse from eating a poor diet. It can take a year or more to start seeing real changes once bird is on a high quality diet made for him.

Thanks for writing,
Linda
