Darling & Gorgeous

My Janaday Conure is now 18 years old. He has never plucked his feathers at all. His cage is a very large one and he has a Sun Conure as a friend, who is now 8 years old. He has fruit, seed, green stuff, and attention from me. Nothing has changed, why is he suddenly plucking his feathers out? He has plucked them from his back and front and down his legs, but not touched his wings or tail.
Someone help please, I love him and have had him from a month old.

Bird plucking feathers
by: Tracie

You need to take your bird to see an avian vet. If nothing has changed in his environment, then it is very possible there is something wrong internally that needs to be treated.

Please read the Feather Damaging Behavior article that our resident avian vet wrote for more information on feather plucking issues.
