feathers being pulled out by female hen from her own chest.

we notice the other day that the hen was pulling out its own feathers on its back side, we took to the vet were he gave some sort of drops to the area, tonight we notice the hen is started to take out its feather from the chest and stomick area, there is even some blood from the chest area.

the vet thought that it could be the male taking he feather out, so we were to watch for ten days, but it is most certainly the female doing this damage to its self.

Dr B can not help, because he can not examine your bird. Please find an avian vet that knows what they are doing, so you bird can get the help it needs. You can look for an avian vet on our Find an Avian Vet page.

Also, Dr B would like you to read his Feather Damaging Behavior article for more understanding on this behavior.
