on my conures head he has the feather ends poking out there are no feathers attached to these ends. Also is an air conditioned room to cold for a conure? How do you tell the difference between a male and a female?

Hello Jeannine,

It sounds like your bird is getting in feathers, they will look like sharp pointy things for a while, but eventually the sheath will fall off and there will be a feather underneath. These feathers are sensitive and he will not like them to be touched until they are ready to unfurl.

If you can handle the air conditioning, your bird will be fine. Do not have your bird in a draft though.

You will need to have a DNA test done by your avian vet or breeder to determine the sex.
