Feeding an Alexandrien Parrot

Your bird is too young to be weaned yet, so he needs to be eating baby parrot handfeeding formula fed with either a spoon or syringe. He will not be ready to be weaned until around 3-4 months old. I don't know who sold you a bird this young without showing you how to feed him, but they did the bird a great injustice. Without proper nutrition in the correct amounts, he will die.

When it's time to wean him, wean him onto organic pellets like Harrisons found here. Forget about all seed diets as they are very poor quality diets rich in fat with poor quality proteins and almost no vitamins and minerals.

I also suggest you take him to an Avian Vet ONLY because he needs to be checked for infections and weighed to see if he's losing too much weight.Only Avian Vets are licensed to diagnose and treat birds. Regular dog and cat vets usually do nothing or kill the birds with incorrect diagnnosis and incorrect dosage of the wrong meds. Take your bird only to an Avian Vet for his own good.

The rest of the information you requested can be found in libraries and on the internet by doing a search on your type of bird. We highly recommend that people do their research before buying a bird because birds need people who know what they are doing or the birds can be hurt and killed. You need to learn about your bird's physical requirements and about his behaviors. You have much work to do.
