Your bird needs to be eating an organic pelleted diet if you can find it in your country. On this site is one called Harrison's which is the best and is Avian Vet endorsed. If you can get it into your country, it would be the best diet available to feed. There are several others, so take a look and see if you can find something comparable in your area if you cannot get food in through the mail.

The reason for organic diets is it eliminates dyes, sugar, pesticide/fertilizer residue and provides a balanced diet for the life of the bird. All seed diets are very poor quality diets and lead to all kinds of physical problems as parrots age. This includes ones where vitamins are provided as vitamins are not used very well by birds. A good diet will keep your bird healthy and happy for many years to come with fewer trips to Avian Vet for infections. A high functioning immune system provides a bird the stability to be able to not get infections unless exposed to one by bringing in a new bird without first having it checked out with an Avian Vet.

Here is an article, written by an Avian Vet on how to go about changing from seeds to pellets as it takes time if they are eating only seeds at this time:

Switching Birds To Pellets article

You'll also need to Find an Avian Vet for your bird as we recommend an examination during the first few days or week of having a new bird. Birds are susceptible to infections when being moved around because their immune systems are not working properly because of stress. There is a link on site here for help in finding an Avian Vet as they are the only vets to take birds to.

Thanks for writing,
Linda
