Female Eclectus Plucking Question

by Leighla B.

I recently received a female eclectus from someone who could not take care of her anymore. She has been a feather plucker for a few years apparently and she is about 10 years old. This apparently started over an egg she laid that was not removed for a few days and then when it was, she went to feather plucking. The family that had her had not been able to get her to stop after that.

She is completely bare chested and I have tried different things to get her to stop as well but nothing has worked. We have adjusted her diet with the help of our vet (specializing in birds) and she really thought that would work, but it didn't. Are there any other ideas to get her to stop plucking her feathers?
