Female or male? Meyer?

Recently rescued a sweet Meyer parrot, whom I love so much, they said she never laid an egg, and not sure of sex, how can you tell? I dont want to do a dna, is there anyway by looks in the different sexing?

Female or male? Meyer?

As far as I know the Meyers look the same in both sexes. There may be someone who has more experience with them that can tell the difference with grown birds. I've worked with handfeeding baby Meyers. I've spent a lot of time with Amazons, and adults can be told apart by eye color. Females have a reddish cast to eyes, and males have a light chocolate brown color. In some birds head shape and size is a good way to tell.

Do an internet search on the Meyers Parrots and see if you can email breeders who will be able to tell you much more. You'll also learn everything you need to know about them as well which is always good with new birds.

Thanks for writing,
Linda
