Female Quaker with dent in beak

We went on vacation and noticed that our
Female Quaker (Polly ) has a dent on her beak when
We got back. She has a mate that shares her cage. Wondering What could have caused this. Is this a physical Injury or has to do with nutrition?

Quaker with dent in beak
by: The Avian Vet

It is very likely that this is a cage mate caused trauma. Are both birds quakers? If not, separate them immediately. The next time this happens someone is going to be missing part or all of the beak and maybe toes too. Even if the birds are the same species, keeping them together is a bad idea. First, birds always are territorial and they may get along for a awhile but invariably someone gets hurt. And second, they are not as tame when they are caged together.
