GC losing feathers on head

by Ronald H Bohlae
(Eugene, OR USA)

We have a 5 year old yellow sided green cheek conure who is losing his feathers on his head. We have taken him to the vet and found only that he was healthy.
He has not lost feathers anywhere else on his body.

Can you make any suggestions?

Thank You

full spectrum light and digestible calcium sources: broccoli is one. I like the Orlux calcium products too.

Not normal for bird to lose feathers on head
by: The Vet

Feather loss to the point of bare skin is not normal. Is your bird caged with another bird? Does he have access to another bird at other times? Was he tested for PBFD (Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease) virus? What is his diet? Does he drink from a water bottle? Does he have a full spectrum light? Is he rubbing his head on a toy? Is he exposed to tobacco smoke?

These are questions you need to ask yourself to help find the answer.
