Gouldian finch paralysed

by Kristen

We have a gouldian finch and a zebra finch, both male. I went up to the cage today and the gouldian was on the floor of the cage looking like he was asleep. I went up to it and he didnt move. I touched him a couple of times and he eventually put his head up. His eyes were closed and he couldnt move very well. His legs were dragging behind him.

We moved him to another cage and he got worse. He has now died. I googled the sysmptoms and it was sugested chlamydia. Is this possible? The other bird seems totally fine. They were both perfectly normal this morning.

Finch died

The only way to determine what killed your bird is for you to take the bird to an avian vet for a necropsy. So sorry for your loss. I would for sure take the bird if it isn't too late, because your other bird might have caught a disease from the bird or there could be something toxic in the environment.
